Let’s delve right into the review for Batman the Animated Series Episode 61 the Demon’s Quest Part II. In this episode, Ra’s Al Ghul’s master plan to restore the Earth back to a shining utopia through mass genocide is revealed and Batman naturally has to stop him. Flying back into this part, Ra’s Al Ghul recovers from his temporary insanity and manages to calm down, offering Batman the chance to be his heir once again but Batman is still not down with this. Batman and Robin nearly get killed, but they escaped, and prepared to foil Ra’s real plan.

And what is his real plan? Well it is a doozy of a plan, to cause bombs to go off in the Lazarus Pits all around the world to cause a chain reaction that will cause an effect that will purify the Earth. Over two billion people will die but hey that is just small potatoes compared to the fact that the Earth will be purified of all polution. Batman summarizes that Ra’s is completely out of his mind, whch does not make the demon head too pleased, so he locks Batman up.

Being the master escape artist that he is, Batman manages to pick his way out of a lock and escape.

Then we got the fight between Batman and Ra’s Al Ghul. It is a sweet fight, as they have a sword fight near the Lazarus Pits. One of the greatest fights in the entire series and Batman manages to outmatch Ra’s. Ra’s loses his balance and goes right into the Lazarus Pit, preferring to off himself, rather than to live with the shame that he lost his sword duel to Batman. Batman stops the countdown and saves the day.

Batman and Talia have a parting the ways but a scene at the end indicates that Ra’s Al Ghul is not quite dead, as he raises from the pit.

So this episode was an awesome capper to a great two part episode. I’ll get this two part episode a 10/10 for great plot, characterization, and action.
