This essay describes how I’ve come to discover how excellent the HBO shows that I might be missing are.
Two HBO series that I haven’t had access to, but have recently have been exposed to via DVD format are The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones and they both have their positive points that make them stand out as excellent television shows. The more mature perspective given to these shows makes them much more interesting than a mainstream television series.
The Walking Dead is a zombie show that is epic in scale and shows a town been overrun by zombies in the early stages leading to a series of brutal deaths. The zombie encounters are great for people that were fans of media like the Resident Evil series back in the day. The characters that group up against them are all very hard edged with fits in appropriately with the very bleak atmosphere. The second disc takes place in a laboratory and is more restrained in its approach the first disc. The very horrifying and hopeless atmosphere created by this series is what makes it stand out.
Game of Thrones is the second HBO series that I watched and struck me with its deep storyline that deals largely with the politics of kingdoms and their various leaders. There is a variety of mature content thrown into this series as well which would make it appeal to adults as well. The 10 discs presented flow nicely throughout the entire series and make the reader want to go back and read the books. This is certainly some of the more mature fantasy one will come across and comes recommended for fans of the genre, but also those looking for a very intelligently drawn out storyline in a medieval setting.
My exposure to these HBO series wants me want to go and discover more of a similar nature. The Walking Dead represents a zombie storyline very well and likewise Game of Thrones a fantasy one well. Both of these shows come recommended to the general populace.
