Anyone who can have a one-sided conversation with a crowd, and still be hilarious, is at the top of the comedy food chain.
Stand-up comedy is one of my favorite things to watch. I believe it is the truest form of comedy. Anyone who can have a one sided conversation with a crowd and still be hilarious is at the top of the comedy food chain in my opinion. I have gathered a list of ten of my favorite stand up comics with some of their sets. If you have someone you think should be on the list, add a comment with the link, because I would love to check it out.
I start off with one of the best. I was born in 1983, so I am a little young, but there was so much hype over this man and his comedy prowess. I watched his routine and I have to agree he is the greatest.
Rodney was a great comedian, who gave a lot of young comedians their first big break. When he saw young talent he would really push for them to succeed. I love his style of just joke after joke. I wish more comedians today would adapt this style.
Dave Chappelle started on stage at the age of fourteen years old and he is a natural. I laugh at virtually everything he says and I have no idea why. He is just that funny.
Now, I know recently Dane Cook has become a little annoying since we were over exposed to his humor, but I remember the first time I heard him and that is all I need to remember. Here is a clip from back in the day.
Sadly, Mitch Hedberg is no longer with us. However, he definitely lives on in me because I quote the man more than any other comedian. Thank you Mitch. I am glad I got to see him on his last tour in the United States.
This was the first super star stand up show I ever saw. I saw delirious way too young. I don’t know what my mom was thinking. However, it was bit like this one that even at a really young age I could still relate and see his genius. I wish he would stop doing kids movies and do some real comedy again.
I love Demetri’s style. It is always hard to invent something new in a professional that is centuries old, but Demetri has definitely done that, and done it well.
This dude doesn’t get enough credit. He is tiny and angry, but it is funny as hell.
I had the privilege of seeing Bill Cosby a few years ago and he was amazing. He sat on a stool and just told story after story. He is a true professional.
This young man is a rising star and his humor hits really close to home for me. I am twenty five and this kid is basically like hanging out with my best friend.
His voice is funny enough, but his act is a polished machine. I don’t know why this guy isn’t a bigger star.
This list is so so sad. I gotta hand it to you buddy, you’ve composed the best stand up list ever. As to Prior, Cosby and Eddie, you are right, there are the best. But, Dane Cook and the other bunch of losers? Come on!How about Robin Williams (the King), Cedric the Entertainer, Steve Harvey, Jamie Fox, Kat Williams and other who rule the stand up world. Apparently, You need to watch more stand up routines before you make another best stand up ever list.
Please watch them, before making another stupid list like this one.
Watch them, don’t comment!
I love Chris Rock and Bernie Mac (actually all of the 4 kings of comedy)… missing them here – they would definitely be on my top 10 list.
BILL HICKS!!!!!!!
ok theres some good stuff here but you forgot the best ROBIN WILLIAMS.Besidesthat i like the three amigod too and chris rock
What about George Carlin? What do you think about him?
He MUST be on the top 10 list of stend up comedy
ROBIN WILLIAMS (50′) show is the best. You must put it in top 10.
not a fan of Robin Williams. Amusing but not funny haha. Same goes for Chappelle although some of his stuff is hilarious.
Of the videos in the list I liked Pryor the best.
What about Abbott and Costello?
did anyone notice that Mitko only likes a specific kind of comedy.
Folks, he didn’t say anything about these being the “best all time” comedians or the “best acts ever”. He just said these are must see bits and I wholeheartedly agree. Good list, some great stuff there!
I love Robin Williams as an actor, he is absolutely hilarious… but I definitely think he is a little overrated as a stand up comedian.
One of the most underrated acts out there is Pablo Francisco. Check him out, you won’t be disappointed.
All in all, great routines on here, I like your style.
Robin Williams STOLE all of his material. He is a fraud! All he does is make weird faces and crazy noises. LAME. As for the list you got the black comics right but not the white ones. Where is George Carlin?
Woody Allen…an inspiration for many future comics. Dave Attell is pretty amazing too.
The fact that Doug Stanhope & Stewart Lee aren’t on this list dis-credits it immediately.
lol how can ANYONE say robbin williams is in ANY competition in the comedy department?? anyways mike epss should replace bill cosby he should never been put up there; dane cook licks donkey nuts; good choice w dangerfield and prior
The fact that Bill Hicks and Louis C.K. are not on here, but Dane Cook and Demetri Martin are, makes this list completely pathetic. Give up man.
U know what mitko shutup dane cook daniel tosh demetri martin are some of the best so just keep your stupid little mouth shut and learn something.
First of all, saying that Person A is funnier than Person B is a matter of opinion. There are no facts involved here. So why don’t you think about that before criticizing and name-calling? Anonymously talking trash to people is pathetic.
No Pablo Francisco?? Fuck.. Funniest man on the planet.
I agree and disgree with all this. People should just watch and learn and people should learn to read “11 best stand up comedy routines you must watch” doesn’t mean they are the best ever! Unless of course they forgot to put “best” in there in which case proofreading needed! People shouldn’t be so harsh and critical against others because of what they believe to be good or bad. The reality is that people are dislexic, retarded, self absorbed, opionated, harsh and different! They will misjudge, misinterpret and misinform to make themselves look better. This is humanity and this is why we have all these great stand-up acts to inform us of these crimes against humanity. Besides, you can’t please everyone no matter how good you are at stand-up or anything in life for that matter! Plus no one has mentioned Jim Carrey yet! He is a great example of what it takes to be funny: mentally retarded, outrageous, wiiling to say what most people are too scared to and flexible!
I love doing stand up comedy. Stand up is testing, but interesting!
a top 11 culd nt b possible i agree with mike epps being up here also have you seen martin lawrence hilarious o and eddie griffin
but ive never heard of that caprulo guy but his bit had me laffin and chappelle and dangerfield pure genius i think dangerfield is the best out of these simply because he has to come with funny joke after funny joke instead of stories with funny circumstances also louis c.k is hilarious also ricky gervais hes a riot
