Peculair Coincidences? On Lost

A glance at one of the oddest coincidences on Lost.

Isn’t that.. Odd

There are a number of odd juxtapositions, but none so strange as the connection between John Locke and Sawyer.

The story of John Locke is possibly the most tragic.  Given up as a baby, raised in various foster homes, having a small meaningless life, he is contacted by his mother who tells him of his father.  His father welcomes him and invites him to share his life.

Hungry for the connection John walks in as innocent as a baby and is quietly tricked into giving up a kidney.  then, he is dropped like garbage.

His father, a wealthy man, makes no attempt to hide the fact that all he wanted was the kidney, and Locke realises it.  Later in the story we find that the reason he is in the wheel chair is because his father threw him out of a window when confronted.

Sawyer, James Ford, lost his parents as a child because a con man, using the name Sawyer, seduced his mother and robbed the family fortune.  His father killed her and himself, and James has spent his life running the same kind of con, searching for Sawyer so as to kill him.

Locke is in Australia to go on an adventure, but is refused because he is in a wheelchair,  sent back to America.  Sawyer is in Australia to find the man known as Sawyer and kill him.

Neither is  of their connection until a later season when the very man is captured by Ben’s group, and Locke is to kill him.  As Locke can’t, Sawyer does.

That it would be the same man to destroy both their lives is the major flag that what happens on the island is beyond normal parameters and does give the hint that perhaps the island exists in some other dimension.
