MMK’s NBSB: A Review

Last September 5, 2009, I watched the ABS-CBN’s MMK.  That episode entitled NBSB (NO BOYFRIEND SINCE BIRTH), which is starred by Maja Salvador as the ugly duckling Judee.  The other characters are: Marita that is played by Ana Capri, which is Judee’s mother; Freddie that is played by Cris Villanueva, which is Judee’s father; Lauro that is played by Guji Lorenzana, which is Judee’s first crush; And, Teejay that is played by Jason Abalos, which is Judee’s second crush.

When Judee was a kid, she loved to fantasy herself as a beautiful princess.  She is the apple of the eye of her dead daddy Freddie.  Even though she gained confidence to herself, she is still unfortunate because she is an ugly duckling.  All her friends, including her gay friend, involved into romantic relationships.  Then, she met Lauro, the judge in a talent contest where she won an award.  But, Lauro is inloved with her girlfriend who is more beautiful and more intelligent than Judee.  Then, Judee is so desperate to have him.  She is fantasizing that Lauro is her boyfriend even though they became text mates.  She brutally nagged at his girlfriend when she found out they had been together since then.  Lauro reminded her that they are just friends, and she is so upset.

Judee does not learned her lesson when she went to college.  Judee met Teejay at the campus.  They became friends until she falls in love with him.  But, Teejay thought that they are just friends. On the other hand, Judee expect so much from Teejay until they are involved in the scandalous issue that would ruin Teejay’s reputation.  Teejay is mad at Judee but later he realized that Judee is just foolishly in love. Teejay tried to explained to Judee that they are just friends and nothing is going between them.  But, Judee became mad until she realized that she is wrong and learned to become a mature person. Therefore, she learned the hardest lesson in a hurtful way.

I can relate to this story.  But, love is love.  It can make you mad when you are frustrated.  And, it is part of your life the creates a new character within you. I cannot say that I am too perfect.  I have imperfections too.  But, I still believe that my wounds can be healed.

Maja Salvador is an excellent versatile actress.
