“I Dream of Jeannie" was a TV sit-com which no one seemed to hate during its telecast from 1965 to 1970. The story evolved around a NASA astronaut portrayed by Larry Hagman as Major Anthony Nelson. He found himself on a desert island after splashing down in an ocean coming from a space travel. Here he discovered a pink bottle containing a beautiful blonde genie, which he aptly named as Jeannie. Barbara Eden as Jeannie assumed that Major Anthony Nelson was her master.

The TV sitcom “I Dream of Jeannie” successfully took off into several episodes that almost every one who had the proverbial “little black box” at home enjoyed watching. Other countries had to wait months before they could watch an episode since TV technology was not as high tech yet. It was only in the seventies that via satellite broadcasting became possible.
“I Dream of Jeannie” is a colorful parade of mischief and mishaps where Major Nelson’s friend and fellow astronaut Roger, would have preferred if Jeannie’s wonderful powers could be used for their personal enrichment. Nevertheless, Jeannie remained as their well-kept secret although some characters in the sit-com were already beginning to have their suspicions. The “I Dream of Jeannie” show went on air for five successful years but the chemistry between Barbara Eden and Larry Hagman on screen never materialized off-screen.
During the telecast of “I Dream of Jeannie” shows, nobody was aware that Jeannie was not allowed to show her navel or belly-button because NBC imposed a “No-Navel-Policy”. Shortly after the show’s successful launching in 1965, Barbara Eden got married and became pregnant. This escaped the knowledge of the viewers because the show’s director devised a way of taking Jeannie’s shots by what he called as “ATB” which stood for Above the Baby angles.
