Bbc1, Tuesday 9pm – 10pm
I would just like to congratulate BBC1 for bringing “Life on Mars” to our television screens. The story lines are exciting, the acting is first class and I can’t wait to see if Sam Tyler gets back to the present day. This programme makes paying for my television license all the worthwhile.
In the first series Sam Tyler played by John Simms has a car accident and wakes up in 1973. He starts work in a police station and tries to solve investigations whilst dealing with why he is here, and his sexist, racist and unprofessional work colleagues.
We cleverly get glimpses of his present day situation through telephone calls and appearances on television with doctors and close family.
The original concept for this programme is of the highest standard and will take some beating. It is unfortunate that there will not be a third series. What a shame!
