Role Model: Alan Shore of Boston Legal

Alan Shore, a role model? You may think I am kidding because he is at times the unethical lawyer, but I kid you not.

Alan Shore of the television series, Boston Legal, is a role model. This is very funny in the fact that as a lawyer he at times is very unethical. What is so extraordinary about Alan is either he helps their client to the best of his ability to win the case, or he helps someone who most duly needs the help in an underhanded way. It is not so much that he may necessarily want to be unethical but he likes challenges and does what he has to do at certain times to win cases. There is no doubt of his intelligence. Alan finds the underlying problem and goes to work trying to solve it for his client.

He also proves he can be a fast learner when Denny Crane introduces him to the ideology of “Pulling a rabbit out of your hat,” in life and in the courtroom. Alan carries it off to a tee when it comes to his cases. It has become part of his style.

He enjoys living life to his fullest as to the fact that he lives in a hotel and he goes from one girlfriend to the next. He loves women. I think the hotel room life suits him because he does not have to make the bed if he has a woman over, and he has more time to be creative with his cases if he has fewer responsibilities in terms of taking care of a home. He obviously also must live this way because he can.

Alan is very good friends with Denny Crane. They confide in each other. In some ways they are the same in the ways they do things, although they both do different things for completely different reasons.
