Denny Crane can be quite funny at times, but he is an excellent role model.
Denny Crane of the television series Boston Legal is a role model. Yes, he has a funny demeanor. This man definitely has an ego – and he loves to introduce who he is. He is the founding partner of Crane, Poole & Schmidt. He has to be a hard worked to achieve that as well as win some high profile cases. Denny Crane is all about image. He loves the media.
When Allen Shore was threatened with being shot, who would expect Denny Crane to pull out a rifle and shot the man with the gun in the shoulder? He is also the man who mentioned to Allen the idea of how he lives life and works as an attorney, by pulling a rabbit out of a hat. Denny and Allen are very good friends.
Denny Crane and Allen Shore both worked on a pharmaceutical case, in which they were working for the pharmaceutical company. They both learned that their client was very much in the wrong from one of their pharmaceutical company employees. Allen felt the information had to be known in court even though it would hurt their client. Paul Lewiston was involved and he felt for the client’s sake, the complete opposite. Denny was to do the questioning. Denny and Allen were at odds over the situation. Then Denny asks the employee that let the cat out of the bag and the client lost the case.
Denny has also served jail time for a client. Although it could be said, that he lost because of a mental impairment. He could not remember what the purpose of the case was. He also was able to get their client more time to find a new attorney because the case was turned into a mistrial.
Denny, as Allen is very much the womanizer. He at one time had an affair with Shirley Schmidt who is also a Senior Partner of the firm. He was not happy to see her return to the Boston office, but in truth, he loves her.
Denny Crane was surprised one day to meet his son, Donny Crane, also an attorney, on a case. Denny’s firm lost the case, but even so, he was proud of his son who won. Donny told the man he believed to be his father that he knew he had big shoes to fill, and he would imagine that he was Denny Crane. In the end, it was because he imagined himself to be Denny Crane that he won that case. Denny told Donny he was an excellent attorney, and when Donny found out that Denny was not his father; Denny told Donny that he could still keep the name “Crane.”
He, like Allen, do things different, but they ultimately come out on the same side, doing the right thing. Denny may seem a bit outrageous at times, but at heart he means well.
