John Cage is a funny little man who happens to be Senior Partner at Cage and Fish, and is a geek and a role model.
John Cage of the television series, Ally McBeal is a role model. Cage is one of the Senior Partners of Cage and Fish as well as an attorney. He has a special bonding with Ally McBeal because of their strangeness. When Cage is in the same room as McBeal, Cage is definitely the stranger of the two. John is a very strong litigator.
Cage knew he was not very popular growing up, and also felt the girls in college never really found him interesting because he is a geek.
Cage goes to see a therapist Tracey who he introduced to Ally McBeal. She introduced Ally McBeal to the theme song. He has many therapies to help him when he is out of sorts.
In the bathroom he can be found doing dismounts. He has a specific stall he likes to do this in. Cage also has a remote control he uses to flush his special toilet so that he can have a clean bowl. He has an affinity for Barry White and has a special dance to the song, “You’re the First, the Last, My Everything” in which other members of the firm often join in. he later creates himself a hole in the lavatory to think.
Cage picks words to say when he feels he is going to stutter. He stuttered as a child. Some of the words he as chosen have been “Poughkeepsie” and “Poop.” At times his nose will whistle, and he also has a tendency to have squeaky shoes.
Before he prepares to go to court he makes sure he hears the bells. He did this before he prepared to ask a girl out on a date.
When he met Nell Porter Cage was instantly drawn to her. Because he was drawn to her and because Nell was so pretty John was intimidated to ask her out, but often looked at her from affair. It was hard for her even when Nell made advances toward him.
Cage looks at his strengths and weaknesses. He hones his skills. If he is still looking at his weaknesses he looks to compensate. He is willing to try something new considering when we first meet him he was arrested for picking up a prostitute.
John is not afraid to speak him mind or take criticism. He entered into law because he likes a challenge and he likes helping people. He loves using his imagination like Ally McBeal and he is a child at heart. It is for these reasons alone that he is an excellent litigator.
