It’s down to the final six again. Here’s my take on what happened on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Tuesday’s episode was dedicated to the rock group Bon Jovi.
Phil sang “Blaze of Glory”. I remember that song from the movie Young Guns. I think he did a pretty good job with this song. He sounded as if he shouted some of the words, but he was pretty good. He has improved a lot over the weeks. Randy was happy for Phil. He thought it was his best week ever. Paula thought this was the best opening all season long. Simon thought it was okay. He didn’t hear authenticity. He thought he didn’t do enough to last until next week. I knew that couldn’t be good for him. We know how influential he can be.
Jordin sang “Living on a Prayer”. This is one of my favorite Bon Jovi songs. I was wondering who was going to sing this song and what luck it happened to be one of my favorites in the competition. I thought she did a good job. I’m not used to hearing her sing songs like this. This wasn’t my favorite by her, but she was okay. Randy thought her verses were rough, but the notes were good. Paula gave her credit for going for it even though it was out of her range. Simon didn’t like her look. He thought her song was out of control and she was shrieking. He pretty much thought she was terrible. I think they were a little hard on her because she wasn’t as bad as they said she was.
Lakisha sang “This Ain’t a Love Song”. I never heard of this song. I thought she sang it pretty well. It sounded more like an R & B song with a rock beat. Randy thought she was back this week. He thought she was pitchy in the beginning, but blew it out the box in the middle to the end. Paula said she did a good job. I couldn’t tell you what else she said because it was jibberish. Simon wanted to kiss her and he did. He kissed her on the lips. He seemed to enjoy the kiss. Hmm…He loved her performance. I was surprised that they enjoyed it since they have been giving her harsh critiques for the last couple of weeks.
Blake sang “You Give Love a Bad Name”. This is another one of my favorite songs by Bon Jovi. I didn’t like what he was doing with this song. It was better when he sang the song. He did a crazy remix to the song. Other people may like that, but I didn’t care for it. Randy thought it was the most original version of a song. Paula mimicked what Randy said and then thought it was his night. Simon thought half the audience will love it and half will hate it. He thought it was the right thing to do. I didn’t really agree with them. I don’t think he was as good as they all thought he was. He wasn’t that bad, but he wasn’t that good. I will admit that it was original so I will give him credit for originality.
Chris sang “Wanted Dead or Alive”. I am familiar with this song. His voice sounded scratchy. I’m not sure if this was intentional or not. He also sounded a little nasal. He was the worst one out of the guys. Randy thought he did his thing and made it his own. Paula thought he did his thing too. Simon thought he did what he could with this song. He wasn’t sure if it was enough to last another week. I agreed with Simon. I don’t think he was as good as Randy and Paula said.
Melinda sang “Have a Nice Day”. I haven’t heard this song. I think she did a good job. She sounded a little like Tina Turner. Randy thought it was a great song. Paula loved it I guess. I couldn’t get what she said. Simon thought she was good. I agreed with the judges.
Overall, Tuesday was a pretty good night for the idols. Rock night was a good night for them.
Robin Thicke and Bon Jovi preformed on the show. As mentioned in Tuesday’s episode, two idols were going to be sent home. The first eliminated singer had to sing. Melinda, Phil, and Lakisha were the first three picked. Melinda and Lakisha were safe. Predictably, Phil was the one eliminated first. I figured he was going to be the one eliminated when Ryan called Phil, Melinda, and Lakisha. He was going to go eventually. Ryan said Jordin was safe. He made Blake and Chris wait until after Bon Jovi performed before he read the results. Predictably, Chris was voted off the show. When it was down to Chris and Blake, I knew without a doubt who was leaving. There was no way that there was going to be an upset and Blake left.
Its getting exciting now! This show will be screened here this week!
Thanks for reading my article. I hope that you enjoy this episode. I thought it was pretty good.
I like your style, you give it a personal touch and that’s nice. I have watched American Idol since the first season and wouldn’t miss an episode. I never found the Canadian show to be as good until my cousin was in competition. It was worth the weekly vigils in front of the TV and on the phone after the shows. She won the 2005 competition and is in her final year as Canadian Idol. I don’t usually watch the results shows on Wednesdays, instead I wait to hear the outcome the next day. If I had of remembered Bon Jovi was performing, I would have made time for that one.
Nice article and well written.
Thank you so much for the compliment Darlene. I’m so glad that you like my writing style. I like your writing style too. I try to write my articles in a way for people to know what happened whether they’ve seen it or not. I write soap columns for another site and that was how I got the practice to do that. You write like that too. I was able to follow along with the things you wrote very easily.
I used to vote for the idols, but I stopped because the people I would vote for kept getting eliminated. LOL! I watch One Tree Hill during the results show so I change back and forth during the commericals. LOL! I think the results shows are a waste of an hour when everyone wants to tune in for the last few minutes.
I have to admit that I don’t wach most of the shows you review but I like reading about them. The reviews are interesting enough to make me think I would give them a try but you can only spend so much time in front of the TV and I already have my favourites. I will continue to read the reviews though.
Thank you so much Darlene. I’m so glad that you like reading them. LOL! I see what you mean about being front of the TV so much. LOL! My vcr had quite a workout this year. LOL! I really appreciate your positive feedback.
Great article C.A.!
Best wishes.
Sincerely,
-Liane Schmidt.
Thank you, Liane. I’m glad you liked it.
