America’s Next Top Model Cycle 14 – Worst Cycle Ever?

I have never really been into reality TV, but for some odd reason, America’s Next Top Model caught my attention a few years ago.  It is totally not my style – I have no concern for fashion whatsoever nor tall, emaciated, conceited girls. Yet somehow, Tyra Banks’ ridiculous, and all around CRAZY antics on this terrible show make it impossible for me to look away.  The show is currently in it’s fourteenth cycle, winding down to the finale this week, and yes, I have watched every, single episode (losing countless brain cells along the way).

This show of 14 ridiculous and terrible cycles of Tyra exploiting and humiliating poor, clueless girls managed to bust out a decent and deserving winner for the fist time in years, last cycle.  This cycle in itself was a joke, leading on short girls under 5′7″ to believe that they will actually be able to make it in the fashion world.  But surprise, surprise, the Top Model team managed to finally choose the right winner, who has since gotten more work than most other winners put together.

Nicole was by far the most photogenic, the best poser, and had the best personality (which Tyra still insists matters for a model… aren’t they just there to look pretty?).

Nicole’s win got all ANTM viewers’ hopes up – that Top Model was finally going to produce some successful models, and was going to actually start giving the most deserving contestants the prize.  That all turned quickly back around after cycle 14 began.

We got an early taste of the new contestants when their pictures were “leaked” before the cycle began, and of course most adamant viewers go straight to picking a pre-show favorite.

However, it was tough, considering these were our choices:

I eventually decided on a few favorites once the show began, but I still was not in love with any of them.  I kept having to choose new favorites, however, because of course each week, my new favorite was kicked off. 

We are now at the finale, in the final four, and are left with the least modelesque and least likeable personalities on the show.  

The first three girls out were, without a doubt, the most talented.  They got rid of this:

I’m sorry, but HOW did it get to these four as the final four? HOW?  I won’t complain too much about Raina- she seems like she is probably the annoying girl that won’t shut up about how splendid everything is, but she is definitely the most talented of the girls left, which means she probably won’t win. So, that means that we have two trannys and Boringface McGee to choose from.   

I guess I shouldn’t pretend that I don’t know how these four girls are the ones that are left.  Not surprisingly, the most talented girls that were let go first this cycle were probably the most quiet girls with the least amount of drama.  Guess what?  The girls that are left are the bitchiest girls that have created the most drama.  

I shouldn’t forget that this is a reality television show, and not a real modeling competition… But Tyra and Co. could at least pretend they’re still trying.
