Való Világ is the Hungarian version of "Big Brother".
Való Világ is the Hungarian version of ‘Big Brother’. This adaptation is with the general concept of ‘housemates’ confined to a Villa. In this villa, cameras are hidden in all the available rooms, bathroom, kitchen, suana room, jacuzzi etc. One of the rules that is important is that the housemates must carry their microphones with them at all times. They must also observe the rule of no violence towards the fellow housemates.
A little modification is, they are sometimes permitted contact with the outside world. In this fourth season (VV4), the Való Világ even allowed some members of the house to celebrate the Valentine’s Day with their Valentine. Still there is still a lot of commercialization in this TV reality series. For example, weeks before the Valentines’ Day, sponsors started to advertise themselves by offering the love birds who became a couple within the house a helicopter ride and sending them to a luxurious thermal spa hotel.
Such entitlement are rare opportunities and also create some jealousy along the way in the program amongst the house members. And I start to realize that one of the strategy is to ‘become’ a couple because it is what the audience would like to see between people. So the couple stays til the end if there ‘is any new development’ in the relationship.
Való Világ literally means ‘Real World’. This reality show is not too popular for some Hungarians. They think it is for ’stupid’ people and for people who are ’shallow’ participated in this reality program, forgoing their privacy. Still, it is rated as Hungary’s most popular reality show which boasts of 2.06million viewers daily.
The winner will win 12 million Hungarian forint for one year. That’s like 1 million forint per month. He or she will also win a lifetime ownership of a house. On top of this, there will be a car. It is the eighty-fourth day since the housemates moved into the villa.
