Born Survivor: Bear Grylls

A big thumbs up to the new, dynamic, survival program Born Survivor: Bear Grylls, that makes Ray Mears look like a boy scout in comparison.

In the latest episode Bear Grylls parachutes into the French Alps where he has to escape the harshness of this terrain and find civilization.

The man has an absolute death wish as he throws himself into a crevasse and also a frozen lake in order to show how you can survive these dangers.

He finds maggots eating a rotting carcass and begins eating them as they are a high source of protein – yuck. On the frozen lake he makes a rudimentary hook and line from his parachute and manages to catch a fish. As there is nowhere to make a fire to cook the fish he eats the fish raw in front of the camera.

As the light diminishes he digs a snow hole into the slope of the mountain. After a sleepless night he gets up to discover that over a foot of snow has fallen overnight and he has difficulty reaching the surface.

Eventually he discovers some skiers in the distance who lead him back to safety and his mission is accomplished.
