ST is by far number one, no question. I'd place B5 at the second place. It has it all: religion (The book of G'Kuan was priceless), epic wars, highest quality drama, the whole package. BSG definitely goes right after. E.J. Olmos as Admiral Adama definitely reached that carisma of a James T Kirk. Although, BSG is a bit below B5 because it's too fixed on the religion stuff. Then SG-1 (egyptians? c'mon), The X-FIles, Farscape, Dr Who, and so on. Fringe would fit in, somewhere down the list.

Hasn't Doctor Who been offically named the the greatest sci fi show of all time? I think So. It has to be at number one. Take it up with Guinness.

The stargate franchise was definitely the best. 17 seasons of edge of the seat thrills for sci-fi lovers. I only hope they have a miniseries or movie to provide closure for the cliffhanger at the end of stargate universe season 2

Very disappointing list, seems to be made by someone from the past...Indeed, where is Fringe, The 4400, Heroes...all the latest series that are worth seeing? X Files is so pretentious and vague compared to Fringe! And now The Event. And odyssey 5, the mini-series Taken...Stargate...Star trek is like an old grandparent that has its merits, but why not all the others? As for Firefly and its relative Serenity and Battlestar Galactica and Caprica...they are a matter of taste, I do not think they are a must see for the SF.

My pick for the number one spot would be B5. No other show is as multidimensional and rich in nuances. Star Trek would rank second, but then I grew up with ST. :)

You totally forgot Moonbase Alpha! It should make best 5 or so just becasuse it's epic and beacause Martin Landau is the most bipolar commander ever (ragingly angry or exuberantly ecstatic). :P
