Women have taken whatever is depicted in Soap operas so seriously that it is ruining families. Men are unable to catch up with the perfection the soaps present and are being blamed by their women for failing to try hard enough. Perhaps its time we banned soaps!
The love our women have for soap operas have driven some families into investing in more than one television set. Why? Women are so much hooked onto television soaps that they won’t let us watch the FIFA world cup and other meaningful programs in peace.
It always happens that whenever the best teams are playing, another channel is showing our women’s favorite soap. It always happens that National Geographic and Discovery are aired when other channels have a ‘hot’ soap. Think of ‘The Days of our lives’, think of ‘The Bold and the Beautiful’, think of those never ending storylines, all the more predictable twists and turns, offering nothing but escapism. Why do women love soaps that much?
Our women are longing for some perfect men who will shed tears and swear to protect them forever. Our women long for men who are both tender and strong willed at the same time, they are looking for fantastic men who will come out of the blue, sweep them off their feet and go onto one knee to propose. They want that man who will smell of nothing but perfection itself. This type of man only exists in Soap operas and that is why they get our women hooked.

Soaps make women disappear from the real world into the inexistent ideal world that they can only dream of. It makes them live in a fantasy world if only for a few minutes and they end up wishing for the same from the men in their lives. There is a danger in this. No man can be tall, dark, handsome, good natured and rich at the same time, no man approximates the perfection underscored by soaps in real life.
Its time women woke up to this reality and stopped comparing the men they see on TV with those in their lives. Can they do that? I doubt it and that is why am calling for a total ban on soaps on national television. Before you sentence me to life imprisonment, I must say I love soaps too but there is other serious stuff on television that men wish they could watch without interference.
I AGREE WITH YOU. I M NOT AWARE OF THE SOAPS IN UR COUNTRY BUT I WOULD DEFINITELY WANT THE ONES IN MY COUNTRY TO GET BANNED.
I HOPE THESE WOMEN SPARE MY LIFE!
Soaps are washing our eyes off reality. They are taking all the time on tv, also some frivolous news, not unlike soap operas overlap the real ones that we ought to know. A good share.
Interesting view… I always thought the characters were so ridiculous, I hadn’t thought of them so lofty… got to admit, I do get drawn into Korean Soap Opera… so dramatic
i dont agree but a very good entry nevertheless
Well, hands up I have my own den in the attic the Dads n Lads room…. so I have no argument here, I don’t mind what the other half watches. he he save up, and get a Dads n Lads room cheers my friend
Unfortuantely, I am one of those women who love soap operas. In fact, the pic I use is my favorite soap opera couple. I couldn’t imagine my soaps being banned. With that said, I did enjoy reading your article. I guess some people do think women get too carried away with soap operas.
I agree! Soap opers are my onus.
Hahahaha…. you are funny! Women just like to see someones else’s life going worse than their own!
I find the local (Tagalized) versions of the Mexican soap operas shown in our country very unrealistic and ridiculous.
Maybe I am in a minority, but I have always viewed soap operas as complete fantasy, which is why they are so relaxing to watch. Perhaps banning football would work better, because then the men could lavish lots of attention on their wives – thereby doing away with the need to watch soaps!
interesting..
my neighbour woman when watching these, her face nearly sticks to the tv screen, and she will say “oh, handsome”… “oh, pretty” etc… she likes to watch the actors/actresses only.
Excellent!
I’m so not interested in soap operas and I agree with you! They are too perfectionist for women and I’m one of the few who don’t actually watch them.
SERIOUSLY PEOPLE, SOAP OPERAS RUIN LIVES. MY FAMILY IS BEING TORN APART BECAUSE MY PARENTS WATCH NOTHING ELSE AND WHEN WE FINALLY WATCH SOMETHING AS A FAMILY ALL THEY THINK AND SAY IS “WHEN DOES THIS FINISH” OR “HOW MUCH LONGER WILL THIS GO FOR”
Well, that’s decent, but what about additional choices we have here? Do you mind crafting one more article about them also? Thx!
