Charice Joins Glee Season 2: It’s Now Official!

Charice will be joining Glee Season 2. This has been confirmed by the pop star herself after she made it to the casting audition for the show’s upcoming season. She will be playing the role of a foreign exchange student in McKinley High. She is anticipatedly the one who will put Rachel Berry (Lea Michele) down with her exceptional singing prowess.

Earlier last month, the news of Charice joining in Glee shook the entertainment world when her Philippines manager reportedly confirmed to the local media that the singer will be joining the second season of Glee. She further stressed out that Charice will not just appear as a guest, but she will be one of the casts.

When the news came to the knowledge of her US manager Marc Johnston, he then released an official statement through Charice’s publicist Liz Rosenberg denying the issue. Charice herself posted on her Twitter page that this was just a rumor and she will not appear on Glee, but she wishes to.

After the denials, Charice posted earlier today that she will be joining the next season of Glee, and now it’s official! She elaborated that she was not yet with Glee when the rumor came out, but she decided to audition for the casting after that. Luckily, she made it!

“It’s official. I’m on Glee (next season) but story behind it. When d rumor came out, it wasn’t true. But then after that; I tried to audition. And i made it!!! Let’s Party!!!!” Charice tweeted.

The news first came out on Entertainment Weekly through Michael Ausiello on his blog The Ausiello Files.

“Well, it’s true now! Sources confirm to me exclusively that the international pop star is signed, sealed, and delivered to recur next season as a foreign exchange student whose killer vocals get Rachel (Lea Michele) contemplating murder,” Ausiello wrote.

Charmaine Clarice Relucio Pempengco who is popularly known as Charice was born and raised in the Philippines. She became popular on YouTube through her performances of Whitney Houston songs in more than a hundred singing competititions she joined in to help her single mother earn a living.

She made her name when a video of one of her performances on the finals of American-Idol-like singing competition on TV was posted by one of her fans which then became a viral video. The same video made her to the Korean show Star King, then later on to Ellen and Oprah.

She has gained the recognition as Oprah’s favorite. In fact, the living legend dubbed her as ‘The Most Talented Kid in the World.”

Oprah did all the magic and introduced Charice to David Foster who is now her mentor. He produced her self-titled US debut album which peaked to #8 in the US Billboard on the first week of its release.
