Stream of consciousness?
As I am sure you have guessed from the title, this is an apology. The question now is what am I apologizing for? I am apologizing because I am going to waste two to five minutes of your time by rambling on. Hey, don’t leave yet, I might just manage to say something meaningful in this my rambling session. By the way, you ought to try it sometime; just put down your thoughts as they come forth, it might help you. Okay, to my babbling.
Sometimes, I want to write but I have absolutely no ideas in my head and other times I have a lot of ideas to write about but I never get to write them. Why? It’s because of this evil, energy sucking, idea killing device I have in my house. I seem to be so fixated on it that I barely have time to do any other thing. This device, I’m sure you are familiar with, is called a television. Yes, a television. I sit in front of it and watch meaningless programs which instead of adding to my life actually subtracts from it. However, I am lucky to be a Nigerian. Wondering what being a Nigerian has got to do with it? I’ll tell you. In Nigeria, unlike a lot of other countries, electricity is a privileged and not a right. You can not have any programme planned out that has to do with electricity except you have a standby generator. I am hereby using this opportunity to thank the Power Holding Company of Nigeria who have this uncanny attitude of taking the light when you need it most; watching a film and you get to the climax, ironing a shirt for an important meeting, the extinguished oh I’m sorry I meant the distinguished speaker is speaking at a conference, etc. Yes so I thank them for making me have time to write. Hey, stop frowning. Yes , you from Nigeria, don’t worry, I won’t thank them tomorrow when there is power outage at the moment I need it most.
The surprising thing is that they allow me write only when I have no ideas in my head. Take today, I had three solid ideas I intended to write on but guess what? You guessed light em.. I mean right! There was light through out the day. If you are a Nigerian, you would know how rare that is. So here I am, because it is evening and I have not written anything, rambling on. And yes there is still light which means I have been able to, for a few minutes, ignore that evil device enough to write this down. Okay, I think I have wasted enough of your time today and that evil device is still calling me. Bye for now, let me enjoy this light while I can. They would probably realize their mistake and withhold the light for the next week.

good work..thanks.-
Smart writing.Liked it.
Yes, I am not leaving until I heard all your thoughts. And I say I sometimes do this. In fact last night, I did this. I did make a rant and “murmur” in my journal. I just can not have it published here. It was too harsh. hehe.
I relate with you here buddy! Power cuts in most African countries just sucks! Here in Uganda, the situation is not any different-In Kampala where the elites who matter, including the leaders, reside, power is assured. Upcountry, power is a luxury-many folks are going solar and it is working for them-you need to consider that option. A Great post this one is Desire!
