Left Behind

Character analysis of the character Ryan Daley from the Left Behind kids series.

In Left Behind , there were 4 main characters. Although all of them were interesting in their own way, I decided to choose Ryan. The thing different from Ryan was that his parents didn’t believe in god in the first place, unlike the other characters, Ryan had no chance of learning the word. Ryan was a round character, was wise, nice, and but easily frustrated. He is also dynamic because he cared about his parents after their horrifying death. The left behind series was about the times when god raptures everyone who believe and followed him and sent them to heaven. Those who didn’t believe in him were left on earth to live for the rest of the earth’s days.

Ryan has many character traits, as he is a abnormally interesting person. In the begging, he was in his house and found a note from, his mother. He was curious why his mom was gone for hours. Later in the story, he was staying in Judd’s house he wanted everyone to go away and leave him alone. He was angry, upset, and aggressive, because after knowing his parents dead and not having a relationship with god, he was not happy knowing the fact his parents were in hell. After knowing his parents were in hell, he was stubborn. All of his friends that were left behind believed in god, hoping that one day they could meet up with their parents in heaven, Ryan however, did not believe until later in the story.

Ryan went through some feelings and behaviors throughout the book. As I mentioned before, Ryan’s parents weren’t close to god, and after their death, he knew that his parents were in hell. In his room and was ignoring everyone. This would make him sad because he would not let anyone else help him in his time of need.

As Ryan refused to believe in the beginning, he affected everyone around him. For example, when Ryan did not believe, it stops the group from proceeding. They did not want to force him to do anything he did not want to do. However, his friends came up to talk to him to help and try to get him to study the bible. Then, he wanted to prove that he was tough. He ran out to Judd’s house (another character in the story) and finds Lionel’s uncle. Lionel was joyful to see his uncle alive.

Ryan I found interesting because his change in moods and how he can help others. Something I do not like about him Is how he didn’t believe in god, and how he wouldn’t let anybody help him. With all the vanishings and how the preacher told them what it was all about, she should have had no problem believing. What I like about him is how his changes his mood suddenly. He went from angry when he knew the truth of where this parents were, then he was happy when he found Lionel’s uncle, and then he was scared that there was a fire in the hotel.
