Power of Television

    With great power comes, well a lot of responsibility.  The power behind television is the power to influences slightly the thoughts, opinions, actions, feelings, and viewpoints of an audience of people.  With this power. elections can be won, nations can be shifted, and people can become plagued with images of sadism and senseless violence.  Capability of this magnitude requires a series of checks and balances to counteract the immense potential of destruction brought by this means of mass communication.  But unfortunately this system does not fully encompass the nature of evil expressed by television and therefore the poison of mass-media is able to leak out between the cracks of our security.
    The television uses ratings to gauge the programming that it needs to create and portray to its major audience.  The ratings control the shows the are produced and shown to everyone in the county.  Ratings are a census that tell what the public thinks they need.  And with this knowledge broadcasting organizations are able to corral the consciousnesses of America into pens under their control.  Under complete control minds are free to be toyed with and molded into what he nation needs.  This effect is even more so import when it comes to the fragile brains of youth.  Youth are usually only exposed to the bias of their parents and the people involved in their immediate existence.  But, with the grimy fingers of mass-media caressing their impressionable minds, they are but mere toys in the large scheme of things.
