The Mentalist

     Patrick Jane began his career working for the Police as a consultant, when his wife and daughter were killed by the brutal serial killer, Red John. Jane had been pretending to be a psychic for a living, and had developed plenty of wealth from it. He was able to fake being a psychic with his uncanny ability to read people. Patrick Jane sees all! Sadly though, he did not see Red John coming. When Jane insults Red John on live television, he comes home to his brutally murdered wife and daughter, and a taunting note from Red John. After that, Jane became a consultant for the CBI (California Bureau of Investigation), and that is where the show picks up.

    Red John shows up every now and then in The Mentalist, but only 4 or 5 times in the first season and once or twice so far in season 2. The rest of the show focuses on Jane’s spectacular ability to catch killers. He sets many different creative traps to catch killers, and he sees right through the people who have everyone else fooled. An example can be found in Season 1, Episode 9 where a series of arson cases have been committed. A boy who had been around for several years and was supposedly mentally challenged had been behind it. Nobody ever suspected the kid, but Patrick Jane exposed him within minutes, using his brilliant mind and his always clever words. Here is the scene i am talking about:

    As you can see here, Patrick Jane is very clever, smart, and witty. When it comes down to it, The Mentalist is a must see show.
