Role Model: Winifred Burkle of Angel

Winifred Burkle of the television series, Angel, is a role model. Winifred first met Angel in the dimensional portal of Pylea for 5 years where she spent most of her time in a cave. Angel and his team were looking for her, after Cordelia Chase had a vision of Winifred and was pulled into the portal in the same library where it had happened to Winifred.

Professor Seidel introduced Winifred to physics and he also introduced her to the portal of Pylea. He was jealous of intelligence and felt threatened so his resort was to get rid of her.

Winifred is a country girl at heart and a real hillbilly, born in Dallas, Texas. She was originally a history major in college, and took an interest in physics. She is an utter genius and can be relied upon on mathematics, quantum physics, and other sciences. She is also an inventor. As a teenager she was a pothead and was interested in conspiracy theory.

Winifred was adored by Wesley Wisdom Price and Gunn. Winifred ended up drifting towards Gunn first, and she and he dated for a year. Wesley was still attracted to her but get it to him, although he and Winifred were still quite close.

She can always be depended upon in a jam to either fight, or figure a way out of danger.

Her co-worker Knox at Wofram and Hart was the one who brought about her demise. He praised and honored Illyria and helped bring her into their dimension and Illyria consumed Winifred’s body. Once Illyria took over her body, Winifred disappeared forever.
